Another tip to save on your groceries

Have you ever only liked and buy only a particular brand of product?

I do. But I have also realised that for some items, there are other brands available that offers similar quality and taste, at a cheaper price. One example is no frills product. No frills product doesn’t carry a branding may not necessary mean that it is inferior in quality. It could simply be that the parent company wants to venture into the mass market using a cheaper pricing consumer strategy but do not want to project a ‘cheap’ image and affects its existing product lines. So these can be still be products of quality but having a lower pricing.

And for some products like paper cups, does it really matter which brand it is? No brands or no frills paper cups may cost much lesser. If the usual paper cups cost $1 and assuming the other variables such as quantity and colour remain the same, there’s another paper cups selling for $0.90, the 10 cents while looks small means a 10% difference. This is better than most discounts you are able to get from credit cards. But of course, being a smart consumer, you’d save this 10% and still use a credit card to get additional savings.

So the next time you go grocery shopping, think about whether there is any substitute that could save you more money.
