Changes to Citibank Dividend Card Cashback Structure

If you have been having problems figuring out your Citibank MasterCard dividends on your bill recently, you are not alone.

What happened was, Citibank recently changed the way they award the dividend points. While it used to be dividends would be awarded regardless of any amount spent, spending in the categories of ‘petrol’, ‘dining’, groceries’, pharmaceutical’ would give us additional bonus dividends, now it has been changed to a required minimum spend amount of $50 before such bonus dividends would be awarded.

This is not a good news. And it looks like I would be spending more on other cards.

Another change is that after accumulation of 50 dividend points (equivalent to $50), this amount instead of being posted by cheque and the receiver having to bank in, this accumulated dividend will now be credit automatically into the dividend card.
