Golden Village (GV) movie tickets with HSBC

It used to be that you can purchase a HSBC movie prepaid card for $75 (for 10 movie tickets) which allows you to watch a movie on any day. This works out to be $7.50 per ticket, especially good for use if you are catching a movie over the weekends.

This has now been changed to be divided into two cards.

You can either now buy a ‘weekday only’ prepaid movie card for $70 (10 movie tickets) or an ‘all day’ prepaid movie card for $85 (10 movie tickets).

If you have a habit of catching weekday shows, it is now cheaper with the ‘weekday only’ prepaid movie card as the cost now works out to be only $7 per ticket.

If you have been catching weekend shows, the bad news is, the price is now increased to $8.50 per ticket. $1 compared to previously.

Of course, this is still one of the cheaper options compared to other promotions at Golden Village.

The other terms and conditions very much remained such as the card has a validity of 1-year. But it is definitely slightly more hassle now because there are now two cards to keep track of instead of the one previously. It’s not worthwhile to simply buy an ‘all day’ movie prepaid card and spend it on a weekday as the normal ticket costs $8.50. Using the ‘all day’ prepaid card is also $8.50, therefore giving no advantage.

However, to promote this change, there is a promotion going on. Getting both cards – ‘weekday only’ and ‘all day’ movie prepaid cards will only cost $150 (instead of the usual $70+$85=$155). This is $5 cheaper. There are also 5 free popcorns vouchers given (64 oz) for the purchase of both cards. Voucher valid till May 2014. In addition, instead of a 1-year validity, both cards will come with a 2-years validity.

This promotion is valid until 31 December 2013.
