Need to stock up on food for Chinese New Year 2015?

Chinese New Year is coming, next month in February.

Are you one of those who have already started preparing for this festival?

From spring cleaning to food stocking to ang baos preparation to CNY goodies purchases, there’s many work to be done. And money to be spent as well.

While I can’t lighten your need-to-be-done workload, but I can let you know how you can lessen the impact on your pockets this festive season with the following offer by using your Citibank credit cards.

Stocking up on your food from Sheng Siong.

We all know the everything seems to increase tremendously in price as CNY approaches. And other than to stock up on the food early, you can stock up by buying from Sheng Siong. Remember to use your Citibank credit card when making payment.

With a minimum spend of $88 in a single receipt, get a $8 voucher (while stock last).

Use of voucher is subjected to the terms and conditions printed and can be utilised between 23 January 2015 to 28 February 2015.

2% Citi Rebate will also be awarded (for transactions amount above $50).

This offer is valid from 23 January 2015 to 17 February 2015.

Side note: The above promo is good for people who patronizes Sheng Siong often as the possible savings work out to be about 9%+2%=11% in total, if you hit the minimum spend of $88. Otherwise, you’d be better off using POSB Everyday card as it gives a 5% rebates.

Here’s how I’d do it :- If I were to spend less than $88 in a single receipt, I’d use POSB Everyday card or Diners Sheng Siong credit card to give me a 5% rebates.

Using Citibank credit card only gives a 1% Citi Rebate (for transactions more than $20 to less than $50) or 2% Citi rebate (for transactions amounts of more than $50).

If I were to spend more than $88 but less than $176, and I have to complete my shopping in that single day, I would then group my purchases into two piles and make 2 separate payments. One pile hitting the minimum spend of $88 and use Citibank credit card for payment (about 11% savings). The next pile that didn’t hit the minimum spend of $88, I’d use POSB Everyday card or Diners Sheng Siong credit card (about 5% savings).

For those who don’t like the hassle of separating into two piles, it’s also ok. Just take note that any amount spent exceeding $88 will give back only a 2% Citi Rebate (as there’s no additional $8 voucher to boost our savings) as compared to POSB Everyday card or Diners Sheng Siong card 5% rebates.

Or, come again and stock up on another day. There’s only so much we can carry in a single trip. 😐

For amounts hovering about $176, separate them into two piles where possible to get two $8 vouchers and so on!

I hope you get the idea, the loose amounts that cannot fit into sets of $88 minimum spend, use POSB Everyday card or Diners Sheng Siong card (if you have one) to maximise your savings.
